The Fat Soul

When our routines are out of whack, it is tempting to tend more toward vanity than virtue. All of our schedules have been knocked off the tracks as each of us humans try to avoid humanity. Hopefully, our normal routines include a healthy amount of productivity.  Hopefully, our abnormal routine does also.  Proverbs 13:4 “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.”  Now, before you wince at the word “fat” that simply means “richly supplied.” In other words, analyze your activity. How does it look? It is filled with frivolousness?  Instead, redeem this time to the glory of God. This should include quality personal worship, but it can also involve: yard work, cleaning out that closet, or catching up on some uplifting reading. I see a lot of people out walking to avoid a fat body, but a fat soul…now that’s another story.
