The Deep Things of God

Perhaps you can relate to my friend who recently had damage to the roof of his RV while in transport. Apparently, it was just the sheer force of the wind the ripped away a section of the roof. Here is the rub. When he filed a claim with his insurance, they denied it. They responded that his policy had a provision that the damage had to be the result of something ‘puncturing’ it. The good news is that God provided another way for him to repair it at no cost.  Here is my point. How many people understand all of the ramifications of their insurance policies when they buy them? Policy mumbo-jumbo makes our eyes roll back in our heads. That is deep stuff.

Sometimes I hear Christians talk about biblical doctrine and the ways of God in the same fashion. No matter the grade-level at which a preacher speaks or commentary is written, there will be some individuals that just do not get it. The wisdom of God is a mystery to the general population of humanity (1 Cor. 2:7). The really good news is that God has given the Holy Spirit to every believer to reveal His wisdom to us (1 Cor. 2:10).  On our own, we could never sort through all biblical truth and put the relevant items together to form a proper conclusion. You are not alone, dear Christian! Verse 10 goes on to say, “the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”

Rejoice in the amazing gift of God’s Holy Spirit. Among other things, He is the most thorough counselor you could ever hope to have. With the Word of God in your hand and the Holy Spirit in your heart, you are ready to receive all the truth you need. God has supplied this for you at no cost to yourself (1 Cor. 2:12). Dive right into the deep things of God.
