Here is some preliminary information for our trip on May 9-13, 2022.
We plan to take the Amtrak round trip from Florence to Philadelphia. Fare may be as low as $114.50 per person. Amtrak is offering a discount for booking 6 adults in one reservation. Booking individually (or as a couple) would cost approximately $174 per person round trip.
We hope to also enjoy a production of Sight & Sound Theater in Lancaster, PA. We will need bus transportation for this event. Based on 30 people traveling the bus from Philadelphia to Lancaster including tickets to an afternoon showing of David & lunch, the cost would be an average of $165 per person. This depends on the restaurant we choose for lunch.
Hotels have a wide range of prices, but I think we can reserve one in Center City for approximately $145 - $170 per room. I will check with the hotels to find out their group rates.
There are hop-on-hop-off buses in Philly that stop at the museums & historical areas. Museum entrance fees are not included in any of the prices I've given.
I think the sightseeing bus has a 2-day ticket for $56. I think this could be a decision left for each person. Here are some sites to see:
- Faith & Liberty Discovery Center
- City Hall
- Liberty Bell Pavilion
- Independence Hall
- Museum of the American Revolution
- Philadelphia Museum if Art
- Betsy Ross House
- National Constitution Center
- Ben Franklin Museum
It looks like the trip would cost approximately $700 per person excluding meals (except lunch on the way to Lancaster). This is based on 4 nights in hotels. There would be 1 day of travel each way, 1 day for Lancaster, and 2 days in Philly.
