On Mother’s Day Sunday, May 14, Gloria Hickman left her earthly shell and entered her Lord’s presence. She was at home with family and we rejoice with the spiritual legacy that she leaves behind.
Gloria exhibited a Christ-like servant’s spirit before her family, friends, and congregation. She faithfully served in her church for many years. We will long remember her delicious food dishes (especially her orange dreamcicle cake). Her kindness and encouraging spirit has ministered to many a soul in her life.
On Friday, May 19th there will be a funeral service at Brunswick Funeral Service. The visitation begins at 1 pm and the service starts at 2 pm. The interment will follow take place at the cemetery on-site immediately following. Pastor Carl Wood of Anchor Baptist Church will be officiating.

Gloria M. Hickman, 80, Sunset Beach, NC died May 14, 2023.
Born in Richeyville, PA on May 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Estel Ray Harless and Freda Davis Harless. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gene Hickman.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a member of the Anchor Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Teresa “Terry” Kyer (Jeffrey), Spotsylvania, VA; son, Douglas Gene Hickman (Laura), Linden, VA; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, Shallotte. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
