Choice words often carry a certain leverage with them. Words can be inflammatory and have a shock factor to them. When we hear the word discrimination, it usually carries a tone of defamation and unfairness. However, there will often be people who carry out the same actions but operate under a different label.
A close cousin to discrimination is selectivism. Decisions and choices are being made on the basis of a value system. Often someone is being discriminated against when when a person is acting on selectivism. However, they are not called out for such activity.
A baker made decide that he would rather not design a wedding cake for a homosexual couple but is labeled as someone who is discriminating. That is intolerable to our society. The social media moguls will choose to not service a conservative voice on their platform because their posts do not mesh with their own ideology. Such people are guilty of discrimination but they masquerade under the guise of selectivism.
God’s children need to be wise and discerning about this gross inconsistency that is very pervasive in our world today. Truth is being distorted. Beware, Dear Christian.
