Charles Fox passed from into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ today, January 18, 2022. Mr. Fox was born on December 31, 1918. He recently celebrated his 103rd birthday. He was a distinguished WWII veteran. He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church and attended our church for over 15 years. He will be remembered by his church family as a godly man of integrity who prayed with power and passion. He will be sorely missed.
Charles Willis Fox, Sr. US Air Force, Retired, 103 of Calabash went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
Obituary
Mr. Fox was born December 31, 1918, in Paterson, New Jersey, son of the late Elbert Fox and Electra Vantassel Fox. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and was a Master Sergeant while serving in the United States Air Force until his retirement. While living in Wilmington he was a deacon of Calvary Baptist Church and was also a Gideon. He and his late wife Ercelle traveled on many missionary trips in Brazil and Honduras. They made numerous trips to Israel spreading the gospel. In addition to his wife Ercelle, he was preceded in death by a son Stephen Fox and two sisters, Merle and Peggy.
Survivors include his children, Merle Fox of Salisbury, Charles Fox, Jr., and wife Jane of Ocean Isle Beach, Brenda Wells and husband James of Burgaw, Clara Currence of Carolina Shores; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Fox; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at one o’clock in the afternoon at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina.
